digital preservation

What is digital preservation of audio? Say, for example, that you have an old record or video or audio tape of a past event, such as something your mother recorded onto a vinyl record, or a Christmas party from your childhood, or just old vinyl records that were never released on CD.

By converting these to a digital format such as a CD, you can preserve this as a document, and in the process we can enhance the sound quality with our resources. Your recording will not only sound better, but can be reproduced again and again at a CD replication facility.

This is becoming a popular trend, and its applications are many.
  • Your company could put up old recordings of speeches or events on a website.
  • You could take old tunes and add instrumentation, for a retro-meets-modern concept, as was done recently when the Beatles found some music John Lennon had recorded on his home taping system, and suddenly, the Beatles' long-awaited "reunion" became a reality through technology.
  • An advertising agency may want to use the sound from an ad done in the 50's and re-film an ad over that oldies-style soundtrack.
  • Finally, you may just want your 30-year old son hear what his voice sounded like when he was 3 years old.
